Starting Up

When you choose to work remotely, whether it be part time or full time, there are certain pieces of office equipment you will need. Exactly what you will need will depend on a number of things, such as: is it full time or part time, are you still a permanent employee or are you doing freelance work, what does the job you are doing require and what type of person you are.

Office Considerations

Some office equipment items that you may require include: a telephone, a laptop or computer, a desk, a printer, a fax machine, a scanner and so on. The requirements of remote working may vary but for the most part a computer, phone and a desk are often pretty standard items for a home office. Depending on the number of hours you are working in a day, there are also some additional items that may be desired - things such as an ergonomic chair, a filing system, all-in-one printer and stationary. Of course, connection to the internet is mandatory so equipment will be necessary for that if it hasn't already been installed in the house.
