The Benefits of Working From Home

Working remotely is a growing trend among workers and it’s no surprise given the perks that come with not having to make an appearance at the office every single day. Among freelancers and workers who telecommute, the following are some of the most popular reasons as to why they prefer to work from home.
Flexibility
Having the flexibility to choose when and where to do one’s job is a relatively new concept. The traditional work schedule was nine to five and any time spent out of the office had to be approved by higher-ups. But working remotely allows employees to choose when and where they want to work, so long as they complete the job tasks required of them. As a result, more workers are able to have the freedom to arrange their own schedule. Perhaps they do a little bit of work then take a break to go to the gym. Those who have young children might work until three in the afternoon and then do more work when the kids are asleep.
Work-Life Balance
Work-life balance has become a growing concern for members of the workforce. Many workers feel that spending forty hours per week at the office doesn’t allow enough time for family, cooking, exercise, personal interests, or hobbies. Parents may want to work from home in order to spend more time with their children. Working from home, whether as a freelancer or remote employee, is a way to make the most effective use of your time. For some, actual time may be saved in not commuting to and from work, so that there actually is more time to do other things. For other workers, time is managed more effectively in a remote work arrangement.
Save Money
Working from home is less expensive than travelling to a worksite every day. Commuters may drive, take public transportation, walk, or bike to work every day.
For those that walk or bike, it is mostly time that is lost. For those that drive or take public transportation, money is lost on the costs associated with each. But those that work from home are not required to go anywhere, meaning that ultimately they save money. Many employees also find that being at home they are less likely to spend money on coffee and food from restaurants, which can also result in savings.
Comfortable Working Environment
The most striking difference between home and work environments is the level of comfort. At home, employees can work however they’re comfortable: on the couch, in their pyjamas, listening to music, etc. While companies have begun to focus on making office environments more employee-friendly in recent years, for instance adding spaces for employees to take breaks, exercise and eating facilities, greenery, and casual dress codes, it is still difficult to imagine an office space that could ever be more comfortable than one’s own home. The beauty of working from home is not having to adjust your behavior or dress according to who’s around.
